Deccan Odyssey Tour Itinerary |
Day One: Mumbai
This wonderful tour of Maharashtra and Goa begins at Mumbai. You can start your journey by lazing round some of the important destinations of Mumbai. This is the city of business and glamour. This is also the place where you will find all about antiquity. The city has buildings that is reminiscent of the Gothic architecture. In the evening you journey starts from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus at Mumbai. You can enjoy the dinner onboard.
Day Two: Jaigad, Ganapatipule and Ratnagiri
The next day you get off at the Bhoke Station. From here you can visit the Jaigad Fort. The imposing structure of the fort will simply leave you speechless. The next destination is Ganapatipule. This is a splendid sun kissed beach and you will simply love it. A sumptuous lunch awaits you here and after you have satisfied your appetite, head straight for Ratnagiri. Here you can enjoy the finest mangoes in the world. After a brief visit to the Lokmanya Tilak Smarak, the journey on the Deccan Odyssey continues.
Day Three: Sindhudurg, Tarkarli and Sawantwadi
At day three the train rolls into the Konkan coast. You can get down at the Sindhudurg Nagari Station and get to the Malvan Jetty by car. From this bank you can reach the fort on a boat. The fort also has a few temples within its premises. The next stop is at Tarkarli. This is a beautiful sandy sea beach. You will definitely enjoy the Konkani styled beach resort here. It is also hard to resist the lip-smacking Konkani delicacies of the place. From Tarkarli Jetty you will be treated to a romantic boat ride to Walaval Jetty. From Walaval, a fine luxury bus will take you to Sawantwadi. In the evening the dinner will be served onboard the train.
Day Four: Goa
This wonderfully enchanting land will be you next destination. Goa stands for the sea, the sun and the sand. It is also the place of innumerable churches and elegant mansions that are scattered generously in Goa. From all over the world people come to Goa to see the ancient churches and enjoy life at the beach. Have your lunch in the Goan style and then at the end of the day hop into the lap of luxury of the Deccan Odyssey.
Day Five: Pune
On the next morning the train will roll into the city of Pune. The city was the erstwhile capital of the Maratha kingdom and is today known as the cultural capital of Maharashtra. At Pune you can visit some of the special places of tourist interest like Raja Kelkar Museum, David Sasoon Synagogue and Aga Khan Palace.
Day Six: Aurangabad
Here you will be at a place form where you will be able to relive history. The impregnable defense-system of the city is still so sturdy that you will have to wonder of its utility when it was needed most. The city also acts as a gateway to the world famous heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora. While at Aurangabad make sure that you do not miss Bibi-ka-Maqbara.
Day Seven: Ajanta and Nashik
Meandering its way across hundreds of kilometers, Deccan Odyssey will roll in at the Jalgaon Railway Station. Here you can go about looking at the spectacular beauty of the caves and sculptures by bus. You will be treated to a mouth watering lunch aboard the train on your way to Nashik. While at Nashik you can visit Govardhan Park and some vineyards as well. All these tours will be conducted on luxury car.
Day Eight: Mumbai
While the sun rises, enjoy your breakfast on the Deccan Odyssey for the last time. At Mumbai your dream tour will be over.
